Dark Star Orchestra March 29, 2009
“Quite possibly the most talented and accomplished tribute band out there.” - Rolling Stone
Back by popular demand, Dark Star Orchestra returns for an encore performance at the Vilar Center after playing to a sold-out crowd in 2008. Giving homage in a continually evolving artistic outlet, the Dark Star Orchestra recreates historic Grateful Dead set lists with compelling accuracy. Each night, the band performs one show from the over 2,500 that the Grateful Dead originally performed during their 30-year tenure as fathers of improvisational rock.
Dark Star Orchestra presents the complete original set list, song by song, and in order, with faithful interpretation. To date, DSO has covered more than 1,500 different Grateful Dead shows.
At the end of every performance, the band announces the date and venue where the original show took place.

Posted by: | CommentsLos Lobos Acoustic March 24, 2009
Three-time Grammy Award-winning rockers Los Lobos have left their indelible mark on the American rock landscape over the span of 35 years in the music industry. Since they began as Los Lobos Del Este Los Angeles in 1973, they have evolved into a respected artistic entity using eclectic musical molds built on blues, rockabilly, jazz, Latin and their own Mexican-American heritage. In the past three decades they have released over 15 albums, won the Best American/Mexican Grammy for Anselma in 1984, and in 1987 their cover of “La Bamba” shot straight to #1 on the Billboard Singles chart where it remained for three weeks.
In September 2006, Los Lobos released The Town and the City to much critical acclaim. The album’s lyrics deal with vocalist/guitarist/drummer Louis Perez’s childhood in East Los Angeles, while the music portrays complex and original soundscapes.

Christy Sports is a company of skiers and riders who love to play. In the early 70′s, we followed our hearts and opened stores at Copper Mountain and Vail. Being closer to the mountains meant we could be closer to the sport. The rest is pretty much history. Christy Sports now has over 40 locations throughout the Rocky Mountains. As a result, most of our employees are serious skiers and snowboarders who have a genuine desire to serve our customers.
After so many years in the ski business we know that there’s no such thing as the “best equipment.” There’s only the equipment that’s best for you. Choosing the right gear requires a great deal of experience and a great selection of product. At Christy Sports, you’ll find both. As serious skiers and riders, we take your complete satisfaction personally. That’s why you won’t find a thing in our stores that we haven’t put to the test ourselves. Don’t you think skiers ought to be in the ski business? Come see what a difference it makes.
Christy Sports LLC is currently the largest specialty ski and snowboard retailer and snowsport service specialist in the Rocky Mountain region. The key here is we are specialists in a very exciting and challenging industry. Skiing, snowboarding, snow-shoeing, mountain biking, and outdoor furniture are our areas of specialty in the outdoor sports industry. We are not, nor do we want to be, a retailer of all sporting goods. We are proud of our specialty recognition with quality products and knowledgeable service at convenient locations.

Vilar Performing Arts Center in Beaver Creek presents: An Evening with Lily Tomlin
Posted by: | CommentsAn Evening with Lily Tomlin in Beaver Creek March 17, 2009
Underwritten by Judy & Howard Berkowitz and Liz Armstrong & Michelle Alford
Lily Tomlin is one of America’s foremost comediennes. Tomlin has received numerous awards, including six Emmys, two Tony awards, a Drama Desk Award, a CableACE Award, a Grammy Award, two Peabody Awards and an Outer Critics’ Circle Award.
Tomlin joined the sketch comedy show “Laugh-In” in 1969. Several characters she created on that show have stayed with her throughout her career, including the gum-chewing, wisecracking, snorting telephone operator, Ernestine; the bratty five-year-old Edith Ann, seated in an over-sized rocking chair making rude noises while telling stories about her baby brother and pet dog Buster; and the Tasteful Lady, who lives a gracious, naive life of entitlement in the upper class and shades of whom show up in Tomlin’s film role in “All of Me.”
As with many comedy shows, some content may not be suitable for children.
