Glenwood Caverns collected 631 cans of food from last week’s Music on the Mountain concert; enjoy another evening of live music, drink specials and “Can-for-a-Tram” rides to benefit LIFT-UP this Saturday
GLENWOOD SPRINGS, Colo. (Aug.16, 2010) — Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park in Glenwood Springs, Colo., kicked off its second season of Music on the Mountain with a bang last weekend, collecting 631 cans of food for the LIFT-UP food pantry. This weekend, the series will continue with the Rock Dogs on Saturday, Aug. 21. Guests will be able to ride the tram for free, up to a $12 value, with the donation of at least one can of food for LIFT-UP per rider, beginning at 4 p.m. The band will perform from 6 – 10 p.m.
The Rock Dogs, a rock and roll dance band from Carbondale, features Dale Loper on guitar and vocals, Dan Brennan-Combs on the drums and Tom Mercer on bass and vocals. The trio has been working together for more than sixteen years and shares a common philosophy, “Music performance is not about the musicians’ egos. Instead, it’s about the people who come out in search of a good time. If we give the people what they’ve come for, the rest will take care of itself and everybody wins.”
Upcoming shows include: Derringer, the region’s hottest country rock band, on Aug. 28; KrossroadZ, an eclectic blend of dancing music, on Sept. 11; Cottonwood Acoustic, bluegrass originals and newgrass jams, on Sept. 18; and The Missing Link Band will wrap up the season with rock and R&B on Sept. 25. The Glenwood Springs Post Independent, The Aspen Times and KSPN Radio have joined Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park as media partners for the series.
The Lookout Grille and the Snack Shack will be open for dinner and refreshments during the concerts, with $2.50 Coors Lights, $3 Coronas and glasses of wine, and $4 well drinks. Posted by: | CommentsTO LAUNCH THE SUMMER SEASON, enjoy an evening of Music on the Mountain by The Missing Link Band, drink specials and a free tram ride in exchange for a canned food donation to benefit the LIFT-UP food pantry. “Our Music on the Mountain series was so popular last fall that we’ve decided to hold more benefit concerts this year,” said Steve Beckley, who owns the Adventure Park with his wife Jeanne. “The first one is Friday, May 28, to kick off the summer season and give locals a chance to check out the new Giant Canyon Swing. We hope the ‘Can for a Tram’ promotion will provide much-needed support for the LIFT-UP food pantry.”
The newest attraction at Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park in Glenwood Springs, Colo., is for adrenaline junkies. The Giant Canyon Swing will take passengers on a ride out over Glenwood Canyon, 1,300’ above the Colorado River, reaching nearly 50 miles per hour.
