Latest news from the Vail Soul Music Festival to be held from August 20 to 22 is the announcement that the Funk Band DAZZ will perform. You can’t be a soul music fan or aficionado without having a little Dazz Band on your i-pod! Nor can you have a soul music festival without inviting “groove merchants” like The Dazz Band. The Dazz Band will bring their signature soulful sound to the Rocky Mountains on Saturday, August 21st. The Dazz Band’s group’s biggest hit songs include the Grammy Award-winning “Let It Whip” (1982), “Joystick” (1983), and the ultimate love song, “Heartbeat” (1984), to which many a romantic mood has been set. Described as “funk” masters and smooth soul vocalists of silk, The Dazz Band will bring their legendary roster of old and new, instantly recognizable brand of soul to the second night (Saturday, Aug. 21st at 7pm) of the musical festival, joining soul artist Dwele, hip-hop violinist Lee England Jr., and Denver’s Jonathan Bryant. Friday’s Soul Music Fest line-up includes Vail’s own T’Leon, Liv Warfield, Chrisette Michele and headliner Raphael Saadiq. Vail Soul Music Fest tickets are available at Eagle Valley Music, located in the West Vail Mall and Ford Amphitheater box office. Single Day ticket pricing starts at $35.00 pre-purchase or $45 day of the show. Complete festival details can be found online at vailsoulmusicfest.com.

Posted by: | Comments| The Colorado Soul Festival (CSF) has picked Vail as its top choice to host its first annual event. CSF is committed to being the premier soul music destination festival. “Vail ranks first on our list because of its location and long-standing commitment to community,” says Founder Rhonda Jackson, president of Legacy Entertainment Inc. The mission of Colorado Soul Festival is to celebrate soul music with top musicians, empowerment seminars, workshops and cultural activities. The festival will feature live performances by some of the greatest Rhythm & Blues (R&B), conscious Hip Hop, alternative Rock, Blues & Neo Soul artists from around the world. The Festival estimates 2500 attendees over the three-day event from 9am – 9pm August 20-22, 2010. “We want our attendees to experience all that Vail has to offer from fine dining, shopping and outdoor adventure activities,” Jackson says. Nearly half of the festivalgoers will come from the Front Range. CSF organizers are committed to putting filling beds during Vail’s summer season.Legacy Entertainment is not a stranger to Vail. The firm produced an annual women’s retreat for three consecutive years at the Vail Cascade Resort and Spa. The national retreat held over Labor Day, attracted attendees from across the country. For the past three years, Legacy Entertainment, Inc. has partnered with Central City Productions, Inc. to produce televised music events such as the Stellar Gospel Music Awards and Gospel Music Festival. CSF will look to host events in venues such as the Gerald R. Ford Amphitheater and other neighboring establishments. “We are confident that CSF will have a substantial economic impact on Vail,” Jackson says. Local businesses and merchants will have an opportunity to exhibit at the festival and partner with CSF to host its after-parties. “Vail is a leader in both hospitality and service. We look forward to securing our host hotel over the next couple of months and working with local venues such as the Samana Lounge and the Red Lion,” she says. The Festival’s creative partner is Denver communications firm, Argyle, Paisley and Polka Dots, Inc. (A.P.P.D). John Chapman, director of communication, describes soul as “the principle of life, thought and action” and believes that the Festival will bring an unparalleled experience to attendees for years to come. Philadelphia Orchestra performs at the Bravo Vail Valley Music Festival
Posted by: | CommentsFounded in 1900, The Philadelphia Orchestra has distinguished itself as one of the leading orchestras in the world through over a century of acclaimed performances, historic international tours, best-selling recordings, and its unprecedented record of innovation in recording technologies and outreach. The Orchestra has maintained unity in artistic leadership with only seven music directors throughout its history: Fritz Scheel (1900-07), Carl Pohlig (1907-12), Leopold Stokowski (1912-41), Eugene Ormandy (1936-80), Riccardo Muti (1980-92), Wolfgang Sawallisch (1993-2003), and Christoph Eschenbach (2003-08).
This rich tradition is carried on by Charles Dutoit, who was appointed chief conductor and artistic adviser of The Philadelphia Orchestra from the 2008-09 season through the 2011-12 season. Mr. Dutoit has a long-standing relationship with the Orchestra, having made his debut with the ensemble in 1980. As chief conductor and artistic adviser, he will lead the Orchestra in Philadelphia as well as at Carnegie Hall and on tour. He will continue his role as artistic director and principal conductor of the Orchestra’s annual three-week residency at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center and will lead concerts when the Orchestra is in residence at the Bravo! Vail Valley Music Festival.
